Spotlight: Milk and Dark Chocolate Edibles

By Danyal Swan February 13, 2024

Discreet. Long-lasting effects. Tasty.

There’s a multitude of reasons patients enjoy dosing with edibles, but taste has to be top of the list. The cannabis category has grown tremendously since Alice B. Toklas’ publishing of her “hash fudge” recipe to include less calorie- and sugar-heavy fruit-flavored soft chews, lozenges, mints, and even beverages. Chocolate edibles, though, still reign supreme, perhaps because their rich flavors are adept at masking the either deeply cherished or despised cannabis taste.

If you fall into the chocolate-loving family, do we have news for you. We're expanding our cannabis chocolates to include RSO-infused chocolate edibles, just in time for Valentine's Day. Shop RSO and cannabis chocolates now, or read on to learn more.

RSO Chocolate Edibles

RSO Chocolate Edibles

In terms of cannabis effects, none are more potent than RSO. Rick Simpson Oil is an extract crafted with room-temperature ethanol which removes not only cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant, but the entire chemical profile – flavonoids, fats, lipids, chlorophyll, and more. For this reason, RSO is known as a full extract cannabis oil, providing the truest and fullest entourage effect outside of whole flower, and potent effects. Often, people dose RSO with chocolate as the treat helps to cover the taste of the oil incredibly well. So, we decided to marry the two for Valentine's Day.

Our chocolate recipes are a mainstay on menus, providing a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth experience with each chew. Delectable, creamy milk chocolate provides the same taste and experience as your favorite chocolate brands. And dark chocolate with a hint of salt? The perfect balance of sweet and bitter, rounded out by the salty sprinkle.

The union of our Belgian-inspired chocolates with RSO was one long in the making. What we worked hard on is the ideal RSO formulation, a balanced hybrid option that meets you where you are and takes you where you need to go. This perfected oil is infused into each small batch of MÜV RSO Chocolates, in both milk and dark chocolate options.

Raspberry Dark Chocolate Edibles

Raspberry Dark Chocolate Edibles

Dark Chocolate is rich, sharp, and bold. Fruits often add a tart taste to the deeply complex cocoa. Raspberry was the perfect pairing with MÜV cannabis Dark Chocolates. Physical fruit is not added to the chocolates due to state rules, but rest assured – the flavor is achieved with all-natural ingredients. And, Raspberry Dark Chocolates are gluten-free.

Take a gander at what real MÜV Patients love about this edible:

This is by far the best chocolate or edible I have ever had. The raspberry flavor in the dark chocolate is absolutely wonderful. I have anxiety and pain and this helps out quite a bit.

Caramel Milk Chocolate Edibles

Caramel Milk Chocolate Edibles

Some would argue that milk chocolate and caramel go hand-in-hand, and those some would be right! Caramel lends a deep, buttery richness to already creamy milk chocolate, compounding to a taste reminiscent of a Rolo.

Unlike Rolos, Caramel Milk Chocolates are not filled with caramel due to Florida edibles rules. The chocolates are infused with natural caramel flavoring – the only difference in ingredients between Caramel Milk Chocolates and Milk Chocolates.

Here's what patients love about these edibles:

The flavor and texture of these individually wrapped chocolates is on par with a more upscale non cannabis chocolate producer, such as Ghiradelli, without the waxiness or dryness so common in chocolate edibles in general. There was no strong pot odor or aftertaste, which is awesome. In fact, the chocolate felt just like a little pick me up treat- and it was. Helped me unwind, relax, and get to bed early.

Really nice chocolate, with a bit of caramel or toffee flavor. Mellow and pleasant experience, used during the day to help ease neck & shoulder pain while still trying to get things done around the house.

Seasonal Orange Dark Chocolate Edibles

Orange Dark Chocolate Edibles

Is there anything better than orange season in Florida? Juicy, tangy, sweet pulp coats your tongues in a delicate sweet-yet-sour dance, lighting a fire in your tastebuds. When paired with dark chocolate, the fruit becomes an indulgent treat; the bitter-but-delicious dark chocolate melts and blends, with sweet citrus singing through as you chew.

We captured this flavor, feeling, and more in MÜV Orange Dark Chocolates. The edible is the perfect treat for those who want THC paired with delicious, complex flavors. The rich dark chocolate is perfectly balanced by the all-natural orange flavor, and its 10mg per piece or 5mg per section dosing make it a delicious choice for cannabis enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Not big on flavored chocolates, but this product line is fine to test what's out there. I like to freeze the chocolate and grab 2-3 bars (unless they are the hashey or Wonka bars :) ) on my way out the door for the day...

What are the Effects of Cannabis Edibles?

One of the most fascinating aspects of using cannabis is the effects it provides vary depending on how you use it. Inhaling is the most common – effects are felt almost immediately as the vaporized cannabinoids travel through your airways to your lungs, where they are absorbed into the bloodstream via alveoli.

Orally dosing cannabis, however, is a different story. Just as with food, cannabinoids are digested when eaten and, as you’re aware, digestion is not instantaneous. It starts in the stomach, where food is broken down. This food is then shifted to where the body deems appropriate – and, for cannabinoids, that is the liver. When delta-9 THC is digested through the liver, what’s referred to as the first-pass effect takes place.

The first-pass effect describes the conversion of delta-9 THC to 11-hydroxy THC. This conversion is significant, as 11-hydroxy produces effects 5 times more potent than those of delta-9. On top of this, the “high” sensations expected are delayed. Edibles can take 30-90 minutes for effects to be felt, an important point to keep in mind if you’re in need of instant relief.

Scared? Don’t be! There are some tried-and-true adages to help provide a positive experience when dosing edibles.

Tips to Consuming Marijuana Edibles

The first thing to remember with edibles is: start low and go slow.

While 2.5-5mg sounds small, due to the first-pass effect, it is an ideal starting place for someone new to edibles consumption. It can be tempting to eat a second dose if you don’t feel anything after an hour, but try to wait at least two before adding another dose. CBD is great to have on hand if you get a little too snacky – the cannabinoid has shown to help mitigate some of the unwanted side effects of THC.

The second key thing to remember is: know your dose.

Knowing the dose you consumed for your medicating session is key to finding what works best for you. Remembering the effects, too, is key – if you attempted 2.5mg and felt a little relief but were comfortable, adding another 2.5mg dose your next session is a good place to start.

And, with new products come new questions.

Frequently Asked Questions About MÜV Cannabis Chocolate Edibles

What is the Difference Between RSO Chocolates and Cannabis Chocolates?

The primary difference between RSO and cannabis chocolates is the oil used to infuse. THC distillate is isolated THC with a blend of terpenes, while RSO chocolates leverage full-spectrum RSO oil, which includes terpenes, minor cannabinoids, flavonoids, and more for the full entourage effect.

How are MÜV Marijuana Chocolates Infused?

Cannabis chocolates are created by infusing with distillate or RSO. The cannabis oil is added when chocolate is creamy, and the two are stirred together fully to achieve homogeneity.

Why aren’t Flavored Chocolate Edibles Filled?

Edibles, like all other products, cannot appeal to children in the state of Florida. To ensure this, only solid chocolates can be produced by dispensaries.

What is the Difference Between Original Chocolates and Flavored Options?

The only difference between original Milk and Dark Chocolates and their flavored counterparts is just that, the flavoring!

Why are Chocolates Only 10mg Per Piece?

To ensure no one accidentally consumes too large a dose, the Florida Department of Health required each edibles piece or dose to measure no more than 10mg.

Pro tip: if you're someone who needs a higher milligram dose to achieve desired effects, adding a dab of distillate or RSO atop your marijuana chocolate is a great supplement of cannabinoids.
